Salma Akther Ishika is a Consultant Occupational Therapist who has been working with special needs children for more than 12 years with great reputation, competence and success in Bangladesh. She is the Owner and Founder of Therapy Point (A Centre For Child Neuro-Development).
Salma Akther Ishika Madam is the first Bangladeshi who has done the Oral Placement Therapy course (Level 1 and 2) in 2018 and since then Oral Placement Therapy service in Bangladesh has started through her. She is a professional member of Bangladesh Occupational Therapy Association (BOTA), Registration no. A263.
She completed her Bachelor degree in OT from Dhaka University (under Medicine Faculty) in 2014 and completed Postgraduation Masters in Public Health from American International University Bangladesh (AIUB) in 2017.
She is a Certified Sensory Integration Practitioner, completed Sensory Integration Course (Module 1 to 6) from University of Southern California, USA in 2018.
She was the first person in Bangladesh who was Certified on Oral Placement Therapy (OPT) Level 3 from TalkTools, USA in 2022.
Completed the course on “Becoming a Behavioral Detective- Understanding and supporting complex behavior of children with Autism & Developmental challenges” from India in 2020.
Completed a course on Jaw stability and Speech clarity conducted by TalkTools.
Completed a course on Feeding therapy -A Sensory Motor Approach conducted by TalkTools.
Honors/Awards:
Academic Awards (Dean’s Honorable Award): For successfully earning a grade point GPA 3.90 on a scale of 4.00 during Spring 2016-2017 Semester of Masters in Public (MPH) at American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB)
Academic Awards (Magna Cum Laude): For successfully earning academic achievement a grade point GPA 3.94 on a scale of 4.00 for the degree of Masters in Public (MPH) from American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) in January, 2020.
